Senior Producer
Tony Wilkes is a man with experience that runs wide and deep in the performing arts. He has worked as an actor, producer and wardrobe/costume designer. Born and raised in North Carolina, Tony Wilkes studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology and the Mayer School of Fashion Design.
As an actor, Tony has performed in many short films and independent features, including as a major character in the award-winning movie “Just Another Girl on the IRT” .
His fashion and costume design experience includes designing for many off-Broadway plays and as a wardrobe (dresser) on Broadway. His Broadway credits include “Cyrano”, “Les Miserable’s”, “Damn Yankees”, ”On the Waterfront”, “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk”, “Footloose” and “42nd Street”. He has also worked in wardrobe for television, including the long-running soap opera “All My Children”.
Tony Wilkes is the founder of the Phoenix Ensemble Theatre company, where he has produced over 20 plays. His productions included the classics “A Raisin in the Sun”, “For Colored Girls”, “Ceremonies in Dark Old Men” and “A Soldier’s Play”. Tony is also the founder of LAW Productions where he has produced over 20 short films, music videos and independent features. His recent short film “Silhouettes: Behind the Garment”, won second place in the New York Women in Film and Television 2021 Online Shorts Film Festival.
Tony Wilkes is currently senior producer on the award-winning weekly television show “Consider It Blacklit”. He is a member of the Off Broadway Alliance, ASCAP, Theater Resources Unlimited, IATSE 764, BMI, New York Women in Film & Television and an advisor to the Florence Belsky Foundation which supports networking and programs for people in the arts.
